Backyard Sports Arena
Families into sports and fitness need open spaces for various activities. Think large, level sections for lawn darts, a volleyball court, or a makeshift whiffle ball diamond. Border materials, such as brick or stone, create clean lines and separate flowerbeds from the playing field. Strategically placed benches allow for a cheering section. And a covered area, such as an awning or gazebo, is perfect for cooling down at the end of the contest.

Meditation on Tap
A cobblestone path leads to a secluded cutout in the woods. Seasonal foliage lines the walkway, soothing the soul on the way to hidden bliss. Fountain statues splash softly, inviting guests to discover your private hideaway. Center your environment on an all-weather swing or glider. For changing elevation, concrete steps with all-wood runners make an excellent approach.

Flora and Fauna
Sometimes, only a garden will do. Prepare a section of your backyard lawn by tilling the soil and mixing it with fertile mulch. Landscaping experts can give you the lowdown on local flowers and shrubbery that fare well in your area. Gorgeous colors are offset by green grass, bringing out the best of both groups. And for the true green thumb, the toil of tending the area is a labor of love.
