Annual Ryegrass

Description: Annual Ryegrass is planted for only one season, hence the name. Commonly used as a transitional grass, it is reseeded over warm-season grasses in the fall to keep lawns green-year round in the south and northern areas of the U.S. were warm-season grasses are planted.
Pros
:
- Germinates and grows quickly
- Has moderate durability
- Low-cost
- Can help keep warm-season grasses green year-round
Cons
:
- Generally has a low tolerance to heat, drought, shade
- Grows only once and then dies when it heats up
- Needs ample water
