Description: St. Augustine Grass is commonly found in coastal areas from Florida to California and tends to flourish in areas of high heat, sunlight, shade, and salt. It has a medium to coarse texture and often gives a dark-green to bluish-green appearance.
Pros:
- Moderate to excellent durability
- Excellent shade-tolerant properties
- Grows and spreads fast
- High heat and salt tolerance
Cons:
- Can have excessive thatch buildup
- Poor cool weather tolerance (Below freezing can even kill the grass)
- Often susceptible to lawn diseases and pests
