Description: Zoyia is a fine to medium textured grass commonly found in the southern U.S. coastal, and southern California regions. Zoyia is a deep rooted, slow growing grass with a medium to dark-green appearance.
Pros:
- Good durability
- Deep-rooted
- Can grow in most soils
- High tolerance to heat, salt, and drought
- Generally disease and pest resistant
- Some tolerance to shade
Cons:
- Can take up to two years to fully establish
- Often browns and gets a straw-like color early in the fall
- Prone to thatch buildup
- Can be difficult to mow and maintain
