The Philadelphia Flower Show is one of the premier gardening
events in the country. Here gardening enthusiasts come from around the
U.S. to learn about the latest in floral design and gardening.
The Philadelphia Flower Show is an annual event sponsored by the
Philadelphia Horticultural Society, a civic-minded group that works to
promote a greater sense of community through nature and gardening.
Each year the Philadelphia Flower Show attracts hundreds
of thousands of gardening professionals and novices to view its
exhibits, shows, and displays. Last year former Disney horticulturist
Sam Lemheney designed the show. The prominent features of the event
included at 27-foot high plant sculpture of Mother Nature, known as
Natura, as well as Floratopia Tree, a sculpture comprising branches
composing a variety of flora.
The show attracts professional
horticulturists, landscape architects, and floral designers as well as
novice gardeners. People come to get ideas for their garden or a
wedding. Some come to learn about trends in horticulture and garden
design.
Garden Attractions The
attractions include not only a wide variety of displays from various
organizations and companies involved in all aspects of horticulture and
gardening, but many educational exhibits as well. You can pick up
gardening tips and schmooze with others who share your passion for
gardens. Attend workshops by top floral designers, enjoy live
entertainment by local musical groups, and learn how to arrange flowers
in more creative ways.
The garden show is held annually, usually in the spring, and always in Philadelphia.
