Garden Centers: Something for Everyone

Garden centers usually cover all aspects of landscaping and gardening for your yard--from adding decks or patios to planting fruit trees or sunflowers, your questions can be answered at your local garden centers. If you live near a large metro area, your area's garden centers may put on large annual garden shows to display their many capabilities. Events such as the Garden Center Show in Chicago, the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show, and the Northwest Flower and Garden Show have become popular annual family destinations.

Garden centers can offer advice on:

  • Family barbecue areas
  • Koi or goldfish ponds
  • Planting fruit trees and watching their yearly progress
  • Play areas like sandboxes and swing-sets
  • Incorporating evergreen trees the family can decorate for the holidays
  • Planting a family vegetable or flower garden

Garden center employees often have extensive training in landscaping, gardening, and the planting and care of trees. They can provide you with advice on what's best for your yard's conditions. Displays at garden centers can help you visualize how certain trees and landscaping techniques would look on your property.

Daffodils and crocuses should pop up soon, and garden centers are stocking up for spring. A March weekend could be the perfect time for a family outing--why not take a tour of your local garden centers?
