Lawn Tractors as Four-season Work Horses

You may have purchased your lawn tractor to make mowing your yard a little easier, but even the smallest of lawn tractors has other uses around your property. If you have big piles of leaves to move to a compost pit, all you need is a cart for your tractor. Many people keep their firewood stacked away from their home to prevent insect problems, and that cart can make moving wood a breeze. Use the cart to haul your lawn and garden equipment around when pruning trees, and haul away the branches when you're done.

A few other attachments for lawn tractors that can make your life a lot easier include:

  • Snow Blower: If you live in the snow belt, this is almost a must-have attachment and may work better with wheel weights.
  • Front Blade: This attachment can push snow or grade gravel driveways, or use it for minor lawn grading.
  • Rotary Broom: Towed behind lawn tractors, this attachment can rake leaves, move up to 2 inches of snow, or dethatch your lawn.
  • Chipper/Shredder: Don't haul limbs and branches around; turn them into mulch where they are with this towed-behind attachment.

These are just a few of the accessories that companies like John Deere and Cub Cadet offer with their lawn tractors. Always verify that attachments are compatible with your model before making a purchase. You've developed a spring and summer relationship with your lawn tractor; let it make your life easier all year long.
